Prayer
Prayer is at the heart of the Poor Clare's way of life.
Community
We live in a community as one united family, being led and vivified by the Holy Spirit.
We devote as much time to the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
- Prayer is life in Jesus Christ
- A dialogue of love with Jesus
an Enclosed Order
leading a life of prayer and silence
We are a haven of peace and serenity in the midst of the hectic, tumultuous world ! The Poor Clare Order was founded by St. Clare in 1212. St Clare was a close follower of St. Francis of Assisi who founded the Franciscan Order.
We endeavor to look after our own needs and support ourselves by means of various types of work, in line with our life of recollection and prayer.
our prayer life
The Poor Clares follow a life of contemplation
Our day is centered on the Eucharist and Eucharistic Adoration, either daily or perpetual. This means we devote as much time as possible to the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The contemplative vocation is a gift from God. God invites, He does not compel. The Poor Clare Sister is aware of her call to serve the Lord and God’s people indirectly. Any girl of 18 or older with 5 “O” Levels who feels deep in her heart that God is calling her to live exclusively for Him and is ready to leave everything to follow Jesus, like the Apostles did, is free to call, visit, or email us. During the holidays the girls can come and experience first hand about life in a Monastery. The main quality that a girl should bring to a contemplative life is a capacity to love. This love should make her eager to follow Jesus. An aspirant should have good health, the proper qualities of the mind and heart, and psychological balance. A girl of 16 years may become an aspirant while still at school. However, to join as a pre-postulant, she must be at least 18 years old and have 5 “O” Levels. If you feel that God is leading you to this way of life and you feel you would like to know more about the Poor Clares, please feel free to contact us on the provided contact details.
